Purse Disperse Review - New Handbag Subscription!

I consider myself to be pretty frugal and I like to save money where I can, but one thing I will definitely splurge on is a great handbag! I have a pretty big collection spanning all different labels, non-labels, sizes, colors...but I always want more! Luckily there's a new subscription called Purse Disperse for handbag addicts like me.

*Disclaimer: This box was sent to See, Shop, Love! for review purposes.

To my knowledge, Purse Disperse is the only subscription of its kind. For $70 every other month (starting with January), they'll send you an authentic designer handbag from brands like Coach, Dooney & Bourke, and more! They list totes, diaper bags, clutches, and wristlets as some of the types of items you may receive.

Currently Purse Disperse ships to the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. They are willing to accommodate orders from other countries, all you have to do is email them at contact@pursedisperse.com and request membership. I am not sure what the shipping charges are like for these types of orders. Shipping is included in the $70 charge for addresses in the U.S. and Canada, and their website states that all other countries (including those in the U.K.) will have to pay an extra shipping charge, but it doesn't list what the charge is. Ohio residents will also have to pay tax.

As you can see from the info card above, this box does not reflect what will be in the May 2015 box. This curation card was given only to bloggers and this is a sample box, but this purse will be included in one of their upcoming bi-monthly boxes. So, while this is an accurate reflection of what types of items Purse Disperse will include, it is not what you will receive in your May box if you subscribe.

I received the Dooney & Bourke Lexi Crossbody in Navy, which retails for $98 according to the curation card and price tags on the bag. It measures 8.5" x 5" x 1.25" and has a nice adjustable crossbody strap. Purse Disperse chose this bag because it "offers a smooth transition from winter to spring" and the neutral tones are complimentary to lots of outfit choices.

I don't own any bags from Dooney & Bourke so I was excited to see this in the box. I assumed that the reason Purse Disperse would be able to send out purses at such a discount was because they would be from past seasons, and based on this box I think I am correct (not that that bothers me). This purse is for sale for $98 at Macy's, but it's discounted down to $73.50 on the Dooney & Bourke site. Since the box costs $70+ depending on where you live, I think the comparable retail value would be disappointing for some subscribers.

But back to the purse itself--it is made with leather and is navy with brown/tan accents. I like the navy blue color a lot and I can definitely see myself wearing this out and about, especially during the summer. I'm a big fan of crossbody bags because I like having both of my arms free, and this one is the perfect size to fit my essentials without feeling too small.

The bag is well-made and has beautiful detailing. I especially like the braiding on the zipper pull, which you can see on the right-hand side of the above photo. The interior is lined with red leather and has one big slip pocket (pictured above) and four card slots on the opposite side. I like the card slots because that means I don't have to worry about fitting a wallet into the bag.
Bottom Line: I think that Purse Disperse is an interesting subscription, and, as someone with a pretty intense handbag obsession, I'm curious to see what they'll include in future boxes. While the retail value here may not be as high as some would like, I'm not going to completely write this off as a bad deal right away. I think this box is best for someone who loves being surprised and getting bags from labels like Dooney & Bourke.

  1. This is an interesting subscription. I've seen a bunch of handbag rental subs, but never anything quite like this. Also, the name cracks me up!

    1. Same, I don't think there's another sub out there that's strictly a purse delivery one (that you can keep). I wish there was a profile or something you could fill out though about your style preferences.
