Badger Balm Haul and $5 Off Coupon

Once every few months I like to re-stock my Badger Balm collection. They're my favorite skincare brand and I always like to have some of their balms handy.

*Disclaimer: Not a sponsored post.

There's a lot to love about Badger: they're Leaping Bunny certified as cruelty-free, they use USDA organic ingredients, and they're a Certified B Corporation (companies receive a certification from B Lab, a non-profit organization, signifying their excellence in accountability in business and for a commitment to bringing forth positive social change.

I love Badger for their continued commitment to making the world a better place, but also because their products are amazing! Their Original Badger Balm works better than anything I've ever used for dry, chapped skin. They also have lots of aromatherapy balms, lip balms, skincare, sunscreen, and more! They also have a line of men's products, including beard care.

I restocked on three balms: Sleep Balm, Sore Muscle Rub, and Original. They're all 2 ounces and range from $7.99 to $9.99.

My hands get so cracked in the wintertime. It's really painful and annoying, and other lotions just sit on top of my skin. The Original Badger Balm is my favorite product because it really sinks deep into skin to provide long-lasting moisture and relief. It's an olive oil base, so upon application it may feel different than a regular lotion you may be used to. But just give it a few seconds to absorb into your skin and I promise you'll notice how long it lasts! It also contains beeswax so it's not vegan, but the other ingredients are minimal (see photo below) and many are USDA organic.

One tin lasts me quite a while, maybe six months or more. For only $7.99 that's a great deal! It has a faint hint of wintergreen scent, but if you're looking for something completely unscented they also have a Sensitive Skin Balm.

The Sleep Balm is another favorite of mine. It has lavender and bergamot oils for a soothing scent. I like to rub a little bit on my temples and under my nose before going to bed. I've been doing nighttime meditation and the added aromatherapy really does help me relax and drift off to sleep! It's also great to use before a yoga practice.

I picked up the Sore Muscle Rub Cooling Blend for the first time during this haul. They also have a Cayenne and Ginger warming rub, which I've used before and enjoyed. I've been favoring a cooling sensation for neck pain and general soreness, so I was curious to try this. It has peppermint and eucalyptus oils for a cooling sensation that helps calm sore muscles. I applied this to my neck and shoulders and it provided a nice cooling feeling. Nothing too intense, but enough that I could feel it working.

I also ordered two new lip balms and Badger sent a free gift of Foot Balm! I believe they add a free gift with every order. You'll also get free shipping with orders of $25 or more.

The Peppermint Lip Balm is wonderful. It gives that tingly feeling that I love and sinks deep into lips to actually provide long-lasting moisture. The Chai Rose Lip Balm smells lovely and while it doesn't give a tingly feeling, it does soothe my lips just as well. These are only $2.99 each.

My free gift came in this adorable pillow pack! Badger also has some of their artwork available in posters. I have their Master of Space and Time poster hanging up in my apartment.

I would have been happy with whatever free gift they sent, but I was especially happy to get the Foot Balm! I've used it in the past and it's worked great.

This is the smaller .75 oz tin and it retails for $5.99. The Foot Balm has peppermint and tea tree oils to soothe tired feet. Both oils also have antibacterial properties. Organic extra virgin and jojoba oils also work to deeply moisturize dry, cracked heels. I love massaging this onto my feet after a bath or shower.
Bottom Line: I love Badger Balm! They have so many different products that you're sure to find something to suit your needs. I highly recommend checking out their website -- everything is very affordable and they offer free shipping on orders of $25 or more, plus your free gift with purchase! You can read my past Badger reviews here.

M-Y-O Cosmetic Clutch Review

Whenever I travel I always end up over packing when it comes to makeup and skincare. I have a ton of stuff, and a lot of it is in big, bulky packaging that's not great for travel. The M-Y-O Cosmetic Clutch solves those problems, as it's a stylish way to take your makeup on the go!

*Disclaimer: This product was sent to See, Shop, Love! in exchange for an honest review.

The M-Y-O Cosmetic Clutch is an award-winning, fully-customizable makeup palette. It comes with three M-Y-O Beauty Pods for storing creams or liquid makeup and a magnetic base for any de-potted or individual eyeshadows, blushes, or other products you may need.

The M-Y-O Cosmetic Clutch won the 2017 Cosmoprof Trendsetter Award for its sleek and useful design. I was interested in trying one out because it seemed like a great way to simplify my on-the-go routine.

M-Y-O stands for Makeup Your Own because you can make up your own palette with ease. The compact design is great for slipping in your purse, or carrying on its own.

The Clutch comes in a sharp black color. I love black for clothes and accessories, so it's perfect for me! As you can see in the photo above, the Circlet is a silver on my Clutch. This helps keep it sealed and also allows you to accessories your Clutches. The Circlet is also available in turquoise, fuchsia, and black.

As you can see, the palette isn't much bigger than the current iPhone (which is the iPhone 8 as I type this). It has a snap closure and is the perfect size when closed. The only downside to it being so thin is that you obviously can't fit in something like a mascara tube or anything larger than a pot of eyeshadow, etc.

The clutch comes with the aforementioned Beauty Pods, which are also magnetic, and a two-ended brush. The pods are a great addition and can be used to store pretty much anything: skincare cream, lipstick, or any other cream/liquid product you need. They snap shut tightly and will keep your liquids secure.

I added a few products that I de-potted to show scale. I actually prefer to de-pot my eyeshadow palettes--if you're unfamiliar with the terminology, you pop out the little pots of each shade from the bigger palette. Most have a metal bottom so they attach to the magnetic base of this palette.

If you're not interested in de-potting your current palettes, lots of brands sell individual product pots. One of my favorites is ColourPop, and brands like Anastasia Beverly Hills and NYX also sell individual shades.
  • Visit the M-Y-O website to learn more and purchase
    • Today only (January 26): use coupon code MYOLAUNCH for 25% off plus a free Beauty Blender and free shipping!
Bottom Line: The M-Y-O Cosmetic Clutch is a stylish and easy way to make your own makeup palette! I think it's perfect for travel. I love that it's hard-shelled and snaps shut securely. I can feel confident that it will protect my products and allow me to take them with me with ease.

New Subscription Alert: The BUB CLUB!

If you're a cat person like me, then you know about Lil BUB. She's one of the most famous internet cats and her and her dude, Mike, do a lot of good to help other pets in need. Now she's launching a subscription box!

*Disclaimer: Not a sponsored post.

If you're not familiar with internet cats (how dare you!), Lil BUB is a special needs cat from Indiana whose mission is to bring smiles and do good. She has a Big Fund for the ASPCA and a portion of all purchases from her store go to this fund.

I'm a huge fan of Lil BUB. She's so cute and I love following her across all social media. Now, fans of BUB can join the BUB CLUB!It will be a quarterly/seasonal subscription and they hope to start accepting subscriptions in June of this year. The first round will be limited, so sign up for the newsletter here to be alerted when they open.

You can pay up front for an entire year (four boxes) or quarterly, with the option to cancel any time. The price will include U.S. shipping and a contribution to special needs pets. International orders will have a separate shipping cost.

The boxes will feature merchandise 100% exclusive to the club and will be designed and manufactured with love by Lil BUB's friends. Given the quality, exclusivity, and limited nature of the subscription, boxes will be more expensive than what you may currently be used to for subscription services.

There will be THREE subscription levels available (text thanks to Lil BUB's email newsletter):
  • Tier 1 would be "Stationery and Accessories" and  would contain 3-6 high quality cards with envelopes, a sticker sheet, a photo print of BUB, a BUB pen, a BUB notebook, and a  BUB magnet, plus a donation to Lil BUB's Big FUND.
  • Tier 2 would contain a few of Tier 1's items plus a limited edition enamel pin and one or two substantial pieces of merchandise like a t-shirt and a pair of socks, a pillow, a travel mug, a hand towel, etc, plus a generous donation to Lil BUB's Big FUND.
  • Tier 3 would be the "Premier VIP" subscription, and limited to only about 100 subscriptions (or less) to start, and would contain everything from Tier 1 and 2, plus one more really special exclusive piece of merchandise, likely signed and/or handmade like a porcelain wee-tea handmade by my dude's sister, a sterling silver pendant, a watch, or a custom stuffed animal, a personalized and signed photo from BUB to you on your birthday, plus a very generous donation to Lil BUB's Big FUND.
I'm really excited to learn more about the BUB CLUB. The price hasn't been announced yet, but I'm glad they are letting everyone know ahead of time that it will be a higher price point. I think I will definitely sign up for at least one box. I love that the cost will also go towards helping animals in need.
  • Visit Lil BUB's website to learn more about her and browse her shop
  • Sign up for the BUB CLUB newsletter here to be alerted when subscriptions open

Book Review: The Massacre of Mankind by Stephen Baxter

I've been reading way more science fiction novels recently than I ever have in the past, and when I saw that The Massacre of Mankind continued where War of the Worlds, the H.G. Wells classic, left off, I had to read it.

*Disclaimer: This book was sent to See, Shop, Love! through Blogging for Books.

The Massacre of Mankind is written by Stephen Baxter and is the sequel to War of the Worlds, authorized by the H.G. Wells estate. Baxter is on of the U.K.'s most acclaimed science fiction writers and War of the Worlds is one of the most well-known classics, so I was very excited to start this book.

I was somewhat familiar with Stephen Baxter prior to reading this, as I had read his book Proxima. The writing style there was a bit different than in The Massacre of Mankind, as he was writing it in a style similar to its predecessor. I think he did a great job of keeping the voice of the original story while simultaneously creating a new tale.

All that being said, unfortunately I did not enjoy this book as much as I was hoping I would. It took me quite some time to read, partially because it is 482 pages long, but mostly because the story just didn't grab me. I kept waiting for that moment where you get completely sucked into a book, but it never happened. It was an entertaining read, but I didn't feel compelled to devour every page and chapter the way I have with some other books.

The story takes place 14 years after the initial invasion in War of the Worlds and follows Julie Elphinstone, a journalist and sister-in-law to Walter Jenkins (the narrator of War of the Worlds), as the martians return to Earth. Although I didn't love this book the way I was hoping I would, I still think anyone who considers themselves a science fiction fan should give it a try. Just because it was not quite to my liking certainly doesn't mean it was by any means bad or boring. You can clearly see the amount of work and passion that Stephen Baxter put into crafting this tale, and I did appreciate the balance between the style of War of the Worlds tied into this new story.

If you'd like to check out The Massacre of Mankind, you can read an excerpt here.

January Daily Goodie Box Review

Daily Goodie Box isn't exactly a subscription service, but it is a lot of fun! It's an entirely free box of goodies that you can get in exchange for your opinions about the products inside.

*Disclaimer: This box was sent to See, Shop, Love! in exchange for an honest review.

Daily Goodie Box really is entirely free; they'll never ask you for your credit card or any other payment information. Boxes are sent based on availability, but creating an account and interacting with them on social media (links at the end of the post) are a great way to try to get a box.

The boxes are always packed with good stuff. They send a variety of items, from food to household cleaning products to skincare, and more. It's always fun seeing what's inside. Once you try everything, head back to the Daily Goodie Box website to leave a few sentences of a review for each of the products.

Here's what was inside January's box:
  • Andalou Naturals Beauty is Renewal Face Cream Pod - I love Andalou Naturals; their skincare is affordable and works really well with my skin. This cream is silky smooth and very hydrating. It has Vitamin C, a fruit stem cell complex, and probiotic microflora to tighten and brighten skin. Even better, the company is Leaping Bunny-certified cruelty-free.
  • EBOOST Spruce Energizing Whole Green Powder - This mix has whole green vegetables for natural energy and has a green apple ginger flavor. I usually don't love green juices, but the flavor sounds interesting.
  • RawRev Double Chocolate Brownie Batter - This bar was really good; it actually tasted like brownies. Most raw bars are not my fancy, but this one was great. It's gluten-free, vegan, kosher, and non-GMO.
  • Beanitos White Bean Sweet Chili and Sour Cream Chips - I've had Beanitos chips and they're so good. These had a great sweet chili heat flavor. They're gluten-free and non-GMO.

The EBOOST green powder also came with this nice mixer cup. The cap has a removable sifter inside that helps break up and dissolve the powder. I haven't tried the powder yet, but I have been using this cup to mix up chocolate milk.

  • Napz All Natural Short-Term Sleep Aid - Napz an all-natural sleep aid made only with herbs. It has chamomile, passion flower, lemon balm, and hibiscus to help with longer naps, onset of sleep, and middle-of-the-night awakenings. I really like that it has no synthetic drugs in it.
  • Bizzy Coffee Organic Cold Brew Double Shot - This will do the opposite of what the Napz supplement will! It's USDA-certified organic, gluten-free, and vegan. It has 135-150 mg of caffeine, so it's not for first time coffee drinkers.
  • Nellie's All Natural WOW Stick Stain Remover - My mom had something like this when I was a kid and it was great for removing stains. I like that you can use it as a mess-free spot treatment and that it's derived from natural ingredients. It has no dyes or synthetic fragrances.
  •  Herbal Zap Immune Support Herbal Supplement - This supplement is non-GMO verified, vegan, gluten-free, and kosher. It's 100% natural with no fillers or artificial ingredients. It's made with ethically-grown herbs using Ayurvedic methods and can boost immune function, promote elimination of natural toxins, and aid in digestion.
The box also contained some coupons and informational inserts about some of the products inside.
Bottom Line: Daily Goodie Box is always fun to unpack and January's box didn't disappoint! I really liked the Nellie's WOW Stick and EBOOST cup. This box is a great way to try new products, be sure to create an account and interact with them on Facebook!

January Degustabox Review and 50% Off Coupon

If you're looking for a food box to subscribe to, I highly recommend Degustabox! Their boxes feature full-sized products and are a great value.

*Disclaimer: This box was sent to See, Shop, Love! in exchange for an honest review. Post contains affiliate links.

Degustabox sends at least 10 full-sized snacks and pantry items for $19.99 per month, shipping included. There's always a good variety of brands and food types represented.

The January box featured 10 different brands, but had more than 10 individual items because some had two of each. I also want to note that your box will contain either the Maya Kaimal Naan Chips or the Uncle Dougie's sauce. I received both as a reviewer to show you all options available.
  • Angie's Boom Chicka Pop ($1.39 each)  - I love Boom Chicka Pop! Their popcorns are great and come in a ton of flavors. These are a simple Sea Salt flavor, but they were still really delicious.
  • Maya Raimal Naan Chips ($1.29 each) - These chips are non-GMO and vegan. The Sea Salt flavor is very subtle, so I think these would be best as a dipping chip with hummus, guacamole, or whatever else you like!
  •  Cello Whisps Cheddar Cheese Crisps ($3.99) - These little crisps are great; they're 100% cheese and are nice and crunchy. I like using them on salads, and honestly they're great as a snack on their own.
  • Loacker White Chocolate ($1.99) - This bar has a fine white chocolate coating with a core of melting milk cream and crispy wafers. I'm not usually a white chocolate fan, but this one is so creamy that I really enjoyed it.
  • Crown Maple Sugar ($1.00 each) - These packets of maple sugar are rich in antioxidants and are a healthy alternative to granulated sugar. I'm going to use it in my coffee, and I'm sure it would taste great in baked goods, too.
  •  Go Organically Fruit Medley ($3.99) - These fruit snacks have appeared in Degustabox before but I'm very glad to get another box! They have a great juicy fruit flavor and are USDA-certified organic, gluten-free, and have no preservatives.
  • Wasa Thins Rosemary and Sea Salt ($3.19) - These crackers are oven baked and have a delicate crunch, with nine grams of whole grains. I like breaking them up in soup!
  • Monini Originale Extra Virgin Olive Oil ($10.99) - I would never spend $10.99 on olive oil, so I'm glad this came in the box! I'm sure it must be high quality, given the price. I use a ton of olive oil when I cook, so this will be put to good use.
  •  Dole Fruit Bowls ($2.79) - The flavor I got was Pineapple and Mandarin Orange in Coconut Water, and unfortunately one of the cup tops broke so the juice leaked inside of the box. It didn't damage anything other than the packaging on the bowls and the other item in this picture. Aside from that, these sound really good. I'm going to eat them as a breakfast at work.
  • Explore Cuisine Organic Edamame Spaghetti ($4.99) - This pasta is made with organic edamame beans, making it gluten-free. It's also kosher and non-GMO. Even though the fruit cups leaked on it, the noodles are inside plastic packaging so only the box got a little wet.
  •  Uncle Dougie's Wicked Good No-Fry Wing Marinade ($4.99) - Just a reminder that you will receive either this sauce or the Naan Chips in your box. I've never made chicken wings at home, but I'll use this sauce for my first try. I like that you don't have to fry the wings with it (I'll probably bake mine).
Bottom Line: The January Degustabox had a lot of fun snacks! I'm excited to try the Uncle Dougie's sauce and I loved getting another box of the Go Organically fruit snacks.

OM Kosmetics Vegan Makeup Review and Coupon

OM Kosmetics is an entirely cruelty-free and vegan line of makeup made with pure minerals and certified organic botanicals. They have gorgeously pigmented eyeshadows, blushes, plus brushes and skincare, too!

*Disclaimer: These products were sent to See, Shop, Love! in exchange for an honest review.

OM Kosmetics kindly sent me two blushes and two eyeshadows to review, as well as the Natural Bamboo Kabuki Brush. The brush is the perfect size: not too big, not too small, and it'll easily fit inside any bag for on-the-go. It's made from sustainably-harvested bamboo. The bristles are soft and are great for applying the blush or a powder foundation.

I received the shades Peach and Rose to try. The Mineral Blush is available in six shades that should work for every skin tone. They're made with certified organic ingredient, including rosehip, rosemary, and grapefruit extracts that help protect against sun damage, even skin tone, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. They also contain titanium and zinc dioxide for extra sunscreen protection. If you're worried about titanium dioxide, don't fear -- in powder form, it's naturally-occurring and doesn't penetrate through skin.

The blushes are beautiful and are nicely pigmented. The Rose shade was obviously a bit darker than Peach, as you can see above (Rose is on top, Peach on the bottom), but both are buildable so you can have as vibrant or subdued of a look as you'd like.

The Mineral Eyeshadow is available in 11 shades. OM Kosmetics also has a vegan primer and eye makeup remover. I received Twilight and White Gold to try.

Both of the shadows are densely pigmented and applied a bit chalky. A little definitely goes a long way here. Like the blushes, I would recommend starting off small then building up the color as you see fit.

As you can see, both shadows are very pigmented! I absolutely love the shimmery gray of Twilight. It'll be great as an eyeliner or defining shade for the crease of your eyelid. White Gold is perfect for highlighting the brow bone or inner eye!
  • Visit OM Kosmetics to browse their full line of products
    • Use coupon code DANIELLE for 25% off (no expiration date)!
Bottom Line: OM Kosmetics has a beautiful line of vegan, cruelty-free cosmetics! I loved the shades they sent me to try, especially the Twilight eyeshadow and Rose blush. All of the colors were well pigmented and can be used for a variety of looks.
